Wireless Ethernet Gateways

WAGO wireless ethernet gatewayWAGO‘s Wireless Ethernet Gateways (WEGs) provide versatile communication for any application. The WEG is packaged in IP65 housing and easy to mount directly on equipment, making it ideal for use in harsh industrial environments. It can be configured using a button on the front of the unit or via web browser.

The Wireless Ethernet Gateway makes it easy to install a wireless network and replace copper Ethernet cables. This new module allows users to select the best wireless technology for their applications. It can be configured to communicate via Bluetooth 4.0 or wireless LAN, at 2.4 GHz or 5.0 Hz. Users may want to select Bluetooth if stability and low latency are considerations or if there are several other WLANs operating in the area. WLAN communications are used in industrial applications and are simple to set up. The module can also be used as an access point for connecting WAGO PFC controllers to a tablet or smartphone. In this configuration, the mobile device can display the HTML5 web visualizations of the controller.

WAGO’s WEG devices replace Ethernet network cables by pairing with each other or an access point of the same radio technology. The 758-916 (2.4 GHz) and 758-917 (5 GHz) Wireless Ethernet Gateways transmit data up to 1,300 ft (400M) line-of-sight. Applications include motion-intensive, “disconnected” mobile or hard-to-connect packaging, construction and energy production machinery.

WEG users gain industry-proven communication and control capabilities without taxing cabled network infrastructures. The WEG simplifies creation of a wireless transmission link for Ethernet protocols (e.g., PROFINET, MODBUS/TCP, Ethernet/IP).

A streamlined IP65 housing, featuring an integrated antenna (circularly polarized for heavily metallic environments), permits enclosure-free installation in industrial environments. On-unit LEDs further emphasize convenience, providing at-a-glance diagnostics/operational status updates. A push-button and web-based management tool simplifies configuration. Robust M12 cables provide power and Ethernet connectivity, and approvals include Industry Canada and FCC.

The WEGs replace slip rings in machine-building. When paired with WAGO SPEEDWAY 767 IP67 Controllers and couplers, the WEGs support process applications such as wastewater pumps.
